Sleep Tight, Pongo ...
Yesterday, Pongo went to join Jedda in doggy Heaven. He didn't go in his sleep, we had to have him put down, and while it was horrible to make the decision, watching him unable to walk, incontinent, struggling to move for the last week was worse. He had his beautiful smile on his face and was licking the vet's hand as we patted him off to sleep. We had him for 9 years, and we got him the day before he was going to be put down when he was just 15 months old, so he had a long life with us.
This week, we're off to buy another plant, to put in the garden next to Jedda's white lavendar, under the tree in the sunshine. They can lie together in the sun, like they used to.
Goodnight Pongo, sleep tight.

Re: Sleep Tight, Pongo ...
I'm sure he is - I dreamt about him the other night. He was lying on our bed between us, snuffled into both of us and then disappeared. I think he was saying goodbye to us, and he was young and healthy, so I think he was letting me know he's happy now.

Glad he came to visit. I do believe that there is a heaven even for animals, and that he's fine now.
Still, it's never easy. What kind of plant did you get?

Re: Sleep Tight, Pongo ...
Still haven't decided on a plant, but I hope to do it this week. Every time I mentionit, Timmy bursts into tears, so I've been letting it go for now. I got Timmy a little Dali and a Dobey toy dogs last week, and that seems to have helped a bit.
You're right - even thoughit was definately the right thing to do, it was horrible. Thanks Oz

Re: Sleep Tight, Pongo ...
Such a late reply ... we got a dark purple native lavender plant for Pongo, and Jeremy chiselled "PONGO" into the other half of Jedda's brick.
